Digital engineering ‘made to measure’

Engineering – the transition from drawing board to design – is needed to ensure that projects run smoothly. This phase determines how the engineering will take shape. This can be an intensive, time-consuming process, particularly if the project in question is a complex one. These days, of course, this sort of thing is done digitally. International Engineering Services (IES, a subsidiary of TransiConsult) can offer support in this regard.

IES is the European representative of Global Engineering Services (GES), established in 2005 to serve the Asia-Pacific market in the field of traffic and transport infrastructure. The company’s head office is in Bandung (Indonesia). GES also has offices in Australia, China and Malaysia. Being specialists in civil, mechanical and electrical engineering, GES’s work concentrates on computer-aided design in all its facets. The journey from initial design to 3d model is one of GES’s specialities. In the area of infrastructure, the use of three-dimensional modelling is, as yet, less common. However, it can still be very useful, for instance to show what a planned modification will look like ‘in real life’.

GES carries out both its own projects and engineering services. A local project manager is usually on call to co-ordinate operations.
